Head Chef – Oliver Fox

At the heart of Salt and Slate’s passion for flavour is Oliver Fox, our highly accomplished Head Chef. With an exceptional career spanning the country’s most prestigious kitchens, Oliver brings creativity, precision, and flair to every plate.

At the age of 5 you could find Oliver baking in the kitchen at home, his first achievement being Bath Oliver Biscuits! From Claridge’s and Chapter One to the House of Commons and House of Lords, Oliver’s background reflects a lifelong dedication to culinary excellence. His expertise extends beyond fine dining — he has also played a key role in product development for Airlines First Class, crafting menus that showcase the best of British ingredients at 35,000 feet.

As a Private Chef, Oliver has designed and delivered unforgettable dining experiences for a host of high-profile clients, including Prime Ministers, as well as at Buckingham Palace and Clarence House. His ability to create bespoke, elegant menus for intimate dinners and grand events alike is what makes Salt and Slate’s food so distinctive.

Oliver has also been deeply involved in culinary education and innovation. He worked closely with Rosemary Shrager to help establish her Cooking School in Tunbridge Wells, and has lectured alongside the Roux Brothers, sharing his expertise with the next generation of chefs. His passion for the craft has also taken him to industry exhibitions and demonstrations, to inspire professionals and food lovers alike.

Today, as Head Chef at Salt and Slate Catering, Oliver leads a talented team specialising in events catering, private dining, and bespoke corporate functions across London and the Southeast. His philosophy is simple yet powerful — to combine technique and creativity with genuine passion.

We used Oliver at Salt and Slate for a summer ball in a marquee at our sports ground in Hayes Hill.
Oliver listened to our needs and produced bespoke ideas at a reasonable cost for canapes and two course dinner. He responded positively when we had to change our plans during the process. On the night Oliver and his serving team couldn't have been more helpful and the food was perfect for the event receiving many compliments. Oliver also worked alongside our marquee supplier Cameo producing a joint package at a discount. Salt and Slate's serving staff were very professional and positive on the night and helped us set up the tables. All this service at a competitive price. Would thoroughly recommend Salt and Slate for your catering requirements. They not only gave first class service for a 100 covers outside summer ball but also supplied a superb lunch for all our 15 past Presidents in our clubhouse. Need catering? I asked Salt and Slate to cater a small, informal, get-together with friends. The process was so easy & straight forward thanks to Ollie being super efficient & helpful, he guided us when picking a selection of hot & cold dishes and provided all the necessary serving equipment to make sure the food was at it's best on the night.

Thoroughly recommend - best catering ever! We have used Salt & Slate on several occasions in the past and hope to use them again in the future. We recently held a sit down dinner dance for just under 70 people in a garden marquee and asked Ollie and his lovely team to provide the catering, cutlery and crockery for the event. All our guests commented on the high quality of food that was produced and the friendliness of his staff. At midnight, Ollie produced wonderful home-made sausage rolls which went down a treat! His catering certainly contributed to a very memorable and successful event. Nothing was too much trouble for him or his team.
